The hard work of worship leading
My twelve-year-old son is tone deaf. It came as a shock to my wife and I as we both regularly sing and lead worship in public. But he really enjoys music and has a natural memory for it. He has a great sense of humor and regularly tries to beat me to the car stereo so that he can pick the music we listen to. Yesterday we were running an errand with his sisters and he did it again. He starts to play My Lighthouse by Rend Collective. Well, My Lighthouse was fun the first 100 times I listened to it but I'm kinda over it so I turned off the stereo. (Haha! Dad wins.) "I put it on for them," he says, meaning his sisters who learned it at VBS last year. My youngest wants to sing it and I'm realizing that I might be quashing their worship so I allow it.
